GUIDELINES USED BY THE TEACHER IN DEALING WITH CONSEQUENCES
Each individual student is a child of God and will be treated with care and concern for their best interests. An effort will be made to resolve all conflicts and come to an understanding about expectations that need to be followed in order to be in good standing in class. Students will be told that their behavior has been recognized as not appropriate. I will speak to students individually to resolve conflicts that may occur. When necessary I will contact parents regarding the situation. The following guidelines will be used to manage conflicts as they arise. In all situations, it is appropriate to apologize and grant forgiveness.

1. Behavior will be documented and students will be asked to meet with the teacher. Behavior slips will be issued. Consequences may be assigned.
2. Parents will be contacted by phone or in writing.
3. Citizenship/course grades will be lowered.
4. Repeated violations will result in parents being contacted and the student referred to the Principal for counseling.

PROCEDURES FOR CONSEQUENCES
1. Verbal or Written Warning
2. After-School Detention (15 or 30 minutes)
3. Parent Notification- By Phone, in writing, or by email.
4. Removal from Class - Principal

CLASS PROCEDURES

1. Entering the classroom
-Leave all book bags at your locker; do not bring them into the classroom.
-Arrive before the bell
-Sit in your assigned seat with all class materials
-Ask questions about homework and/or make up work
2. Settling in to listen
The teacher will say, “Please give me your attention” and then stand quietly at the front of the classroom. At this time sit quietly waiting for the lesson to begin.
3. Leaving your seat
Ask for permission to leave your seat. (Throw away paper, sharpen pencils, and get materials,)
4. Students may use other classroom areas with permission.
5. Leaving the room
I do not wish to give you permission to leave the room, however, I understand that certain situations arise where a student must be excused. You must ask permission to be excused.
6. Restroom Breaks
I will allow you to use 1 emergency potty pass for the quarter (use it wisely). Ask for permission to leave upon entering the room. Please do not ask to use the restroom at the beginning of class. Restrooms requests are given at the end of class. In case of illness emergency let the teacher know and then leave.
6. Asking for help
Raise your hand and the teacher will provide assistance.
7. Homework
Students must write their name, today’s date, and the assignment title at the top of their paper. Handwriting must be neat and legible. No points will be given to homework that is not labeled correctly.
8. Class study time
At times, the presentation of class material will be completed before the end of the period. Students are to remain seated, and are encouraged to work on assignments.
9. End of class
I will try to offer the last few minutes (5) of class to allow you to ask questions, check on grades or homework and to allow you to prepare for your next class. Please use this time to your advantage.

EXTRA CREDIT
It is my philosophy that extra credit work is not necessary. Students who participate in class, complete homework assignments, prepare for quizzes and tests will have sufficient points to successfully complete this course. Students wishing to complete extra credit projects should contact me. Extra credit will be considered on an individual needs basis.
